The International Requirements Engineering Board (IREB) was founded in Germany in 2006. The board is the legal custodian of the Certified Professional for Requirements Engineering (CPRE) certification scheme which is set up to meet ISO standards. The board consists of leading members of the requirements engineering profession who are drawn from scientific institutions, industry and consulting practices.
The IREB provides support for this internationally recognized qualification by providing the syllabi and setting the guidelines for examination and accreditation. The institution does not provide training itself; this is conducted by recognized, independent training providers. Independent certification bodies appointed by the board are responsible for conducting and evaluating exams, and issuing certificates on behalf of the IREB.
