CPRE certification holds major benefits for the individual as well as any organization. As an internationally recognized qualification, it provides certification of a Requirements Engineer’s competence and increases his opportunities for career advancement. By having certified staff on board, organizations are able to instil more confidence in their professional ability from stakeholders, customers and staff.
CPRE certification is governed by the International Requirements Engineering Board (IREB). The board is not directly involved in the certification process. Licensed certification bodies are given the responsibility for conducting and evaluating exams, and also issue certificates to successful candidates on behalf of the IREB.
There are currently two levels of certification; foundation level and advanced level. The IREB plans to add certification at expert level in the near future. Applicants must pass exams at every level before being awarded certificates, which are valid for a lifetime.
