BUSINESS ANALYSIS IIBA
Scope Definition and Management to Meet IIBA Business Analysis Practices
Scope definition forms the heart of any project and, if poorly done, it will jeopardise the success of the entire venture. It is the first step in the project planning process and involves identifying and defining the work that needs to be done, while conforming to the best practices of IIBA business analysis.
Scope definition needs to be sufficiently detailed so that every member of the project team understands what has to be done. It also forms the foundation for the application of appropriate scope management controls.
Scope management needs effective communication to ensure that the team understands the scope details and meets the project’s goals. As the project progresses, the team leader should solicit approval and sign-off from the client and other stakeholders.
